How to Make Sure a New Workplace Ticks ALL the Right Boxes

There’s something inherently satisfying about the blank canvas of a new building.

Where some see only brick walls, empty space and an eye-wateringly expensive refurb, you’re capable of looking beyond the financial hit and imagining how your perfect workplace will begin to come together.

With a splash of colour here and a few paintings there, not to mention a smattering of well-positioned greenery, you can transform your blank canvas into a bona fide work of art that a modern-day Picasso would be proud of.

Probably.

While it’s true that no building is completely perfect from the get-go, with a sprinkle of imagination, oodles of patience and a relatively healthy budget, you can begin to give your new premises the fit out your company deserves.

Indeed, given how important first impressions are in business, it’s vital your firm is prepared to convey the right image. With that said, we’ve put together a few top tips to make your workplace more shabby than chic …

Panel Power

Although you can wield a paintbrush and roller with the best of them, there’s only so far your gloss and emulsion skills will take your interior design in the modern workplace. The solution? Wood panelling.

It may sound old fashioned, but making the extra effort to attach panelling (remember to use a high quality spray contact adhesive to keep them in place), will give off an effortless air of grace around your business.

Appealing Exterior

Although it’s indubitably important to make sure your interior is up to scratch, it’s equally as important not to neglect your exterior. After all, the outside of your building is the first thing clients and customers will set eyes on, so it’s vital it looks the part.

Whether you’re located in a rustic part of town or a modern, upmarket quarter, the aim is to mesh with your surroundings and not stand out like a gazelle at a lion convention. It’s also crucial to make sure there’s at least some connection between the exterior and interior design.

Employee Power

There’s little worse than employees who couldn’t give two figs about the company they work for. They go through their days with an air of indifference and sneer at colleagues with a seeming thirst to get ahead.

Put simply – it’s not an ideal situation. When it comes to the design of your workplace, then, the best method is to get employees on board and give them a sense of ownership that translates into important decisions about the environment in which they work.

Now it’s over to you …
