Q & A featuring Konrad Listwan-Ciesielski, Co-Founder of Kira Talent

What 3 pieces of advice would you have for young Canadians considering taking an entrepreneurial path?

1. Start yesterday — even if you will fail, you will learn more than if you hadn’t tried at all.
2. Read a lot — there’s tons of good blogs, essays, material that helps you learn from the 10 or 100 most common mistakes early entrepreneurs make.
3. Network and ask for help — there are a lot of resources out there for entrepreneurs at any stage. Whether it be a special faculty, entrepreneurship incubator or resource centre at your university/college, venture start-up programs through your local economic development department, or meetup groups (a lot of these can be found online), getting out there and talking to people – especially experienced entrepreneurs – will help you on your way. These places are a great way to connect with the resources and mentors you’ll need to get your idea off the ground.

There are a lot of young Canadians that probably don’t even realize that they have entrepreneurial potential. Who makes a good entrepreneur?

Someone with natural curiosity, someone who doesn’t settle for the status quo, and has an inner drive to make their vision a reality.

Why is entrepreneurship so important for not only Canada’s future, but on a global scale?

Without entrepreneurship, you wouldn’t have companies like Google, Facebook, Apple, Paypal, and more today. Entrepreneurship drives innovation in today’s society, and is so crucial for our society and economy to move forward.
