6 Historical Inventions That Led To The Actual GPS Tracking System

After some experiments, Marconi invented the telegraph that allows sending messages miles away.

  • 1958
Two physicists, William Guier and George Weiffenbach, used radio receivers to listen to Sputnik's beeping which allowed them to understand the Soviet satellite's position. The American government called the two physicists and asked them to study more about the process and see if it were possible to make it work in reverse. This is how the first GPS tracking is born.
  • After 1958, more implementations to the first GPS tracking were added to develop this invention further and get more precise data from the system about the location of targeted objects. Most of these implementations were conducted under the American government that wanted to improve GPS tracking for military usage.

Finally, with the diffusion of the internet, tracking tools converted into internet-based mapping services that developed more and gave birth to Google Maps in 2004.
