Nail The Interview

The GMP Group, a top recruitment agency, explains how to get the job and put your best foot forward.

Firstly, turn all devices off, so your attention is solely focused on the potential employer.

Mimic their body language, as communication is 7% words, 38% tone, and 55% BL. Keep good posture, don’t slouch or cross your arms, and make eye contact, especially with whoever is asking the questions if there’s more than one person in the meeting.

Be enthusiastic! Elaborate on your answers, and don’t wait to brag (nicely) about your accomplishments. Don’t forget to ask questions too. But also, let them finish their questions, and listen.

Stay away from “um” or slang, and don’t speak poorly of anyone. Also, wait until after you get the job to talk about those big bonuses you’re sure to get. Side note: when asked for salary expectations, give a range so that it’s easier to negotiate.

If you really want to keen, grab their card and write a thank you note within 24 hours.

Now, you can send me your first pay cheque as a thank-you.
